June started with a very authentic Blitz themed party for the trio as the power went out during our second set! Not to be deterred, we played on acoustically by the emergency lighting and some eager guests even carried on dancing in the dark.
We played a couple of lovely weddings before the heat really ratcheted up, at Headstone Manor in Harrow and Mickleford Hall in Rickmansworth – both hidden gems with plenty of greenery to get everyone in the swing of summer.
Once again we returned to National Trust Cliveden for our summer Saturday slots and entertained some enthusiastic picnics! Though by the last weekend we had retreated back into the shade of our tent a little after one of Andy’s boots melted in the heat…
We debuted at The Courtauld Gallery for an elegant summer drinks party prior to their refurbishment works. One of Laura’s favourite places and a wonderfully curated gallery, this was one to tick off of the wish list! The enthusiastic efforts of some of the guests at dancing in spite of the heat made for a couple of great pictures too (see below).
We had a couple of lovely duo gigs for a wine tasting evening and a community fundraiser at a quaint village hall in Somerset.
We also played a private party with a floral display fit for the Chelsea Flower Show!
And we rounded off the month by soundtracking the Westy Gin Fest for two nights running at The West End Centre in Aldershot.
Coming up, we’ve got our first show at the legendary Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho on 11th August, as well as an evening at our favourite local vegan haunt Cafe Van Gogh and a return visit to Jack Solomons Club, where horn players can sit in during the second set! See Diary section of the site for more details on these and all our other gigs.
