It’s all started to get a bit hectic this month as the summer party season kicks into gear! We started the month in (pre-Royal Wedding) Windsor as part of Ballroom Blitz. This was an immersive theatre experience where guests were invited to dress up and step back in time to the 1940’s. Featuring a whole ensemble of actors posted throughout the building and lots of dancing (both choreographed and improvised!), and rounded off with a rendition of the classic Blitz-party closer ‘We’ll Meet Again’, it was a great way to start things off.
Next, we found ourselves back at The Ivy Chelsea Garden for their summer garden opening party. Being partial to a bit of bubbly meant we were in for a lovely evening, and even when the battery amp threw a fit and stopped working we had some fun playing acoustically (with some rather enthusiastic guitar strumming to keep up!).
Another treat for us this month was performing for the Global Good Awards at BMA House, where Laura & Andy were over the moon to discover that the entire food and drink menu for the evening was vegan – we were treated to all sorts of vegan goodies and even some beer made from bread!
Later in the month, we had the pleasure of playing at Jack Solomons club in Fitzrovia. Being in the heart of Friday night in the city is always buzzing, and the underground speakeasy bar is just the atmosphere to complement some vintage music!
Naturally, we’ve also played a slew of weddings this month as the season really kicks in. We’ve been out in full sun eating ice creams, playing in marquees with rainwater threatening to submerge the drumkit (and power cables!), and exploring a number of wonderful old hotels and manor houses. We even popped down to our old hometown of Portsmouth to perform in the old town fortifications – it’s fair to say that we never know where we’ll be performing next!
